Why?

Financial companies choose how they share your personal information. Federal law gives consumers the right to limit some but not all sharing. If you are a new customer, we can begin sharing your information 30 days from the date we sent this notice. When you are no longer our customer, we continue to share your information as described in this notice.

However, you can contact us at any time to limit our sharing.

Who is providing this notice?

Emigrant Family offers consumer-related financial services and includes Emigrant Bank (providing a full range of banking products); Emigrant Mortgage a division of Emigrant Bank., (offering residential mortgage loans), Emigrant Mortgage Company, Inc. How does Emigrant protect my personal information?

These measures include computer safeguards and secured files and buildings. We maintain electronic safeguards to protect customer privacy on our websites. We carefully monitor our compliance with applicable laws and regulations and our internal security policies and procedures.


How does Emigrant collect my personal information?

We collect your personal information, for example, when you

  • Deposit money
  • Apply for a loan
  • Use your credit or debit card
  • Provide your Mortgage Information

Why can't I limit all sharing?

Federal law gives you the right to limit only

  • sharing for affiliates’ everyday business purposes—information about your creditworthiness
  • affiliates from using your information to market to you
  • sharing from non-affiliates to market to you

State laws and individual companies may give you additional rights to limit sharing.


What happens when I limit sharing for an account I hold jointly with someone else?

When an information sharing request is received, and the account is a joint account, the information sharing for only the individual customer is limited.


Definitions


Affiliates

Companies related by common ownership or control. They can be financial and nonfinancial companies.

  • Emigrant does share with affiliates

Non-Affiliates

Companies not related by common ownership or control. They can be financial and nonfinancial companies.

  • Emigrant does not share with non-affiliates so they can market to you

Joint Marketing

A formal agreement between nonaffiliated financial companies that together market financial products or services to you.

  • Emigrant does not jointly market

Other Important Information


California: Under California law, we will not share information we collect about you with companies outside of Emigrant Family, unless the law allows. For example, we may share information with your consent, to service your accounts. We will limit sharing among our companies to the extent required by California law.
